This weekend, Aleksandra, Irina, and I went on a Sunday shopping adventure to help Irina find the finishing touches for her apartment. Our first stop was Savers, where we were soon lost in the sheer variety of treasures. Aleksandra scored a practical shelving unit. Irina was able to fill in the housewares that she was still missing for her new home, including a particularly nice lamp. I hunted for scarves and necklaces with unusual beads. We even stumbled upon this amazing spread of chromosomes dancing in “The Way We Work” by David MacCaulay – it was a truly whimsical find in the book section!
Next, we headed to Whole Foods in Dedham to refuel. The sheer abundance and variety of food was a bit overwhelming, but we each found our perfect meal and sat in the autumn sun to enjoy. With renewed energy, we braved the big box wonderland of Costco. We stocked up on lab snacks and large packages of staples. (So much oatmeal!)
Exhausted but happy, we headed back to Cambridge, with a car full of treasures and treats.
Welcome Irina! Glad to have you settle in.
