We’re happy to welcome our MIT Summer Research Program (MSRP) students! Undergraduates Adam Mohammed, Rhyan Hurns, and Solomon Mabashir are joining us for the summer before their senior year from North Carolina Central University. The MSRP is designed to provide undergraduate students with an immersive research experience, fostering their development in academic and research careers. Our students will be focusing on the three-dimensional organization of the human genome, a critical area for understanding how genome structure impacts cellular function and disease.
Working under the mentorship of Ed Banigan with assistance by Tingran Wang, our MSRP scholars will apply advanced simulation and analysis code to pinpoint inter-chromosomal contacts. This effort is designed to deepen our understanding of chromatin architecture and its regulatory mechanisms.
The program provides these students direct experience with high-level computational and genomic research. We expect their work will be a valuable addition to our current projects and aid their development in this field. We’re looking forward to their contributions this summer!
